Purty Pine Cones

I rode my bike back to the pine cone-littered sidewalk today.

Thankfully I brought two baskets - there were lots of nice, dry pine cones and a few pretty closed ones, too!

The trick was getting home. That fishing basket didn't want to stay put. I wrapped it on the handlebars in front of me but it was precarious and my knees kept hitting it. Plus I had the camera bag and a bottle of water. Not to mention my belly.

Every now and then a pine cone fell out. I refused to lose a single one after my efforts, so I stopped every time to retrieve them. And then I wobbled on home.

Well worth the effort! For the banquet centerpieces, I believe there will already be a square mirrored tile on the table, with a candle and hurricane globe in the center. Like I mentioned in the last post, we'd like the centerpieces to be wintery without being Christmasy.

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled and see what other good (read: free) things can be added. Free stuff. It's a good thing.
