One Hat Wonder

If I had my druthers, I'd be a housewife every day. I'd wear just one hat, not a zillion.

I'd stay on top of the laundry and cleaning, and make sure that crazy cat stopped picking her paw once and for all.

I'd drag the Christmas tree to the curb (yeah, still on the side of the house) and get a jump start on the flower beds.

I'd comb the dreadlocks out of Buddy's tail, and lintbrush Flutterbug's coat, and match Mike's socks in his sock drawer.

I'd put the laundry away so that we no longer dressed ourselves from the laundry baskets.

I'd scrub all the little bloody pawprints off all the upholstered surfaces, and keep the litterbox spectacularly clean.

I'd repaint the walls and refinish the floors. I'd touch up the moulding and polish the fixtures.

I'd make oh-so-delicious meals every night. My husband and daughter would shake their heads in awe over each delectable bite.

Oh, and did I mention that we'd live in a little cottage with a sleeping porch and a fireplace and a sunny yard for a big vegetable garden?

It'd be heaven. Actually, it probably WILL be heaven; not likely to happen anytime soon here on earth! In the meantime, I will be content with the many hats I've been given, and faithful to the tasks at hand. I'm a servant of Christ, after all, and it's the least I can do for the One who paid the ultimate price for me!

And He's given me lots of opportunities to be a housewife, cooking being a favorite (cleaning up not so much).

Tonight's supper: red beans and rice (just starting to simmer here),

quesadillas stuffed with cheese and last summer's peppers (they froze well!),

and spring greens with raspberry vinegarette.

Life is good, no matter how it's sliced up!

Yum! Dinner looks divine!

I'm home all day and I don't do half of those things you think you'd do.

I'm so glad that when we get to heaven, there will be NO LITTERBOX DUTY! WOO-HOOO!!!
