I Spy...

Okay, in reading over my last post, I'm thinking I sounded a bit like a scary neighbor. I might not want to live near me, if I were my neighbor. (Don't dwell too long on that sentence - it's a little scary, too.)

So, let me 'splain. I only spy on ONE neighbor, and only because I've seen her mistreat her dog. Got this handy-dandy mini movie camera, so I've tried to put it to good use in helping get this poor dog into a better home. No luck yet.

There was a lot of commotion over there last week, so I stuck the camera on the kitchen windowsill for about an hour. Shortly after, the neighbor came to the door asking if I'd noticed anything going on at her door - someone had kicked it in! I asked her how long ago it had happened, and fortunately for me, it had been before I started taping. It might have been a little awkward.

"Yeah, it's your lucky day; I've been training a video camera on your doorway for the past hour."

Once, about ten years ago, we lived next door to an older couple with adult children who lived in the home, and one night the younger adults were having a big screaming match in their backyard. I got curious (hard to believe, I know) and snuck out of my house and crouched against the wooden privacy fence between our houses. There was plenty of bad language being flung back and forth when the patriarch of the family came outside, and in an intense whisper spat, "HEY, watch your mouth - don't you know a PREACHER lives next door??!" I was silently roaring over that remark when someone must have thrown something - there was a big thud against the fence and next-thing-you-know I found myself standing in my kitchen.

Oh dear, that story is working against my argument. Really, neighbors, I don't spy on you!

Unless, of course, something really curious appears to be going on. I'm only human. And a little bit cat. (On my father's side.)

Melanie, you are hysterical! I laugh SO hard every time I read your blog; thanks for that! By the way, not that I WANT you to fall, but I've noticed that it just hasn't happened much lately...just an observation. :)

I've been noticing that, too. It's strange! Today I walked over a couple of miles of uneven brick walkways and STILL didn't even trip a little. What's happening to me? I guess Mike took over the role!
