Sneak Peek #1

Christmas Time's comin'...

I feel a little guilty at times for so enjoying the shallow stuff, like decorating and crafting and baking and watching silly Christmas movies.

To help me stay focused on CHRISTmas, I'm doing some reading: Lee Strobel's The Case for Christmas, Henry van Dyke's The Other Wise Man, and this book, which I've been using as a decoration for years but have never read:

Twinkling lights are beautiful, and the smells of pine and cinnamon give me a thrill. I love to play with glitter and pine cones and colored paper and ribbon. Christmas carols never grow too familiar and I adore vintage ornaments.

That thrill of joy, those inexpressible twinges of pleasure that I feel around this time of year - I believe that's from God; a tiny glimpse of heaven, a taste of of eternity. And it causes me to yearn for more of that joy, and look forward with anticipation to forever with Him!

You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
--Psalm 16:11

I love the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas, too! It is truly a blessed time of year. I wish it lasted longer. I think we should start decorating and listening to Christmas carols Dec. 1 and actually celebrate Christmas January 25. That way the season lasts longer and winter goes by faster. Who's with me?

Sunny, we've got the January 25th date beat this Christmas. Melanie, Mike and Flutterbug will be here in SC for our Christmas together on the 28th!

Hey, Melanie, I just noticed--in that white-framed picture, isn't that me as first-time mother holding you, first-born child?

Yep, it sure is (the picture) - I got the frame at our thrift store (of course), with a cherub print in it, and tried to find a small old-looking pic to replace it. Voila!
