Oink, Oink

All I talk about lately is food. Hmmm.

I am what I am.

This weekend was so beautiful that we decided to have a church picnic after the morning service. I made the Barefoot Contessa's coconut macaroons.

And beans!

Buddy is always very attentive to any activity in the kitchen.

The macaroons involve beaten egg whites. The blueberries are just for eatin'. I get bored waiting for egg whites to fluff.

I didn't have any salt pork or a ham hock to add to the beans (not a big fan of weird pork parts), so I called Victory Home to see if there was anything like that in their freezers.

The kitchen guy said he had pork tails. I honestly pictured them pink and curly. But I'm nothing if not an adventurer (with those few exceptions) so I told him to bring 'em on.

They weren't as freaky as I thought, although I didn't dare to take a close look.

The macaroons came out a little too chewy for my taste.

The beans, however, smothered in molasses, brown sugar and mustard, were right up my alley. I may have regrets later...
